Did you know-
The Aborigines, New Zealand and Australia, are credited with inventing the returning boomerang. The returning boomerang probably developed over time by the Aborigines through trial and error. Prehistoric man at first would throw stones or sticks. At some point he realized that a curved stick actually created more accuracy and velocity.
Although traditionally thought of as Australian, boomerangs have been found also in ancient Europe, Egypt, and North America. There is evidence of the use of non-returning boomerangs by the Native Americans of California and Arizona, and inhabitants of South India for killing birds and rabbits.
Pretty gnarly facts huh? Since the boomerang is certainly part of the Polynesian Culture, and honestly they’re super fun to make, we are including them here in our Pasefika collection.
The boomerangs are listed both in a group listing as well as individual listings. The individual listings will have better detailed images of each piece. All the boomerangs are about 2” wide and 15.5” long.
These boomerangs are made with solid wood and hand carved with fine quality to use as a display piece in your home or office. However, if you have a little skill in your wrist you can use it as a weapon as well.
Hope you enjoy your piece of Pasefika! Mahalo!!!
