The turtle or honu is a very important creature throughout all Polynesian cultures and has been associated with several meanings. The sea turtle symbolize health, fertility, longevity in life, foundation, peace and rest. I’a Sa is the samoan name for a sea turtle. In Samoan folklore, it is said that if a fisherman is lost at sea and a sea turtle appears the sea turtle will help the fishermen find his way back to shore.
