This listing is for a beautiful, 36” hand carved solid bone Puao (Owl) necklace on surfer cord. In many of the islands there are introduced species of owls. However, did you know there is a very special owl native to the Hawaiian islands? The endangered pueo calls Hawaii home. The pueo is a subspecies of the short-eared owl and is endemic to Hawaii. The pueo is one of the more famous of the various physical forms assumed by ʻaumākua in Hawaiian culture. Pueo is considered the “Bringer of Good Luck", protector and messenger.
