These pieces are made with 💯 Authentic Kukui Nuts, as well as, Authentic Traditional Cowerie Shells. Dimensions: Ribbon Lei necklace is 25” long (50” tip to tip) and 1.5” wide Kukui Nut Lei is 31” long (tip to tip with adjustable ribbon to lengthen) Nasa & Cowerie Shell Lei is 18” (36” tip to tip) long Please note- there are several different variations in this listing. There are a variety of Ribbon color leis and then we have black and brown Kukui available. In addition, if you would like a custom engraved wood pendant, just send us a message so we ca start that custom order for you! we ca do names, school logos, years, dates, etc. There is no reason too small to celeberate here in the islands- why not spruce it up with beautiful leis! Seashells are found in abundance in Polynesian and Micronesian cultures. These islanders have a deep consnection to nature and the ocean. This deep connection has led to a very complex, nature-centered culture. Many of the spiritual beliefs center around the sea and its various creatures like a seashell. In Polynesian culture, the shell is a representation of peace and wisdom. Since Kukui is a source of light, it has come to symbolize enlightenment, knowledge, and learning. The Kukui Nut tree was a symbol of enlightenment, protection, guidance and peace, and its spiritual powers are still believed to flow through Hawaiian culture. Please note that I use ALL 100% natural materials and thus there will inevitably be differences in each individual piece.
