These clams are filter feeders and live on rocky bottoms and coral, usually in the sea grass prairies of the Posidonia Oceanica. This is a beachcombing shell often broke down and made into beads for Polynesian Jewelry. The turtle or honu is a very important creature throughout all Polynesian cultures and has been associated with several meanings.
